ABOUT
READ OUR STORYPRIDE AND REMEMBRANCE FOUNDATION – WHO WE ARE
Established in 2010 by the Pride and Remembrance Association (the Association), the Pride and Remembrance Foundation (the Foundation) serves as the charitable arm of the Pride & Remembrance Run.
The Pride and Remembrance Foundation is a charitable organization, incorporated in Ontario. It operates as a public foundation. As such, the Foundation does not itself conduct any charitable operations, other than fundraising and making charitable gifts to other Canadian registered charities.
The Foundation has three volunteer directors and no paid staff. As a lean, grassroots organization, the Foundation operates a modest granting program and supports the charitable fundraising efforts made through the Pride and Remembrance Run and its organizers, the Pride and Remembrance Association.
The Foundation receives and receipts all charitable funds received through the Pride & Remembrance Run. This provides an immediate and seamless tax receipting process for the Run’s fundraisers.
Charitable funds received are then disbursed to charitable organizations selected annually as Run beneficiaries by the Association, in consultation with the Foundation.
The Foundation also receives a share of the Run’s charitable proceeds. With its share of these proceeds, the Foundation administers a modest granting program of its own.
The Foundation’s mandate is to provide financial support to registered charities in Canada that benefit the 2SLGBTQ+ community. These may include individual projects, services and/or activities that provide health, educational, legal, social, athletic, cultural or other charitable benefits.

Mikael Dam, Director
Mikael Dam is a registered psychotherapist, facilitator, and coach with over 30 years of experience helping individuals and organizations thrive. Drawing on a wealth of professional expertise, Mikael brings clarity, compassion, and practical tools to support growth, resilience, and well-being.
Mikael’s journey with the Pride and Remembrance Association began as Race Director, a role he held for five years before joining the board of the Foundation in 2010. Over the years, he has served in various director positions and continues to find great joy in contributing to the organization’s mission. For Mikael, being part of this community is both meaningful and energizing—supporting well-established organizations in the 2SLGBTQ+ community as well as smaller groups that may not always receive the attention or funding they deserve. Giving back in this way is, for him, a true privilege.
